OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERS
We have a super team of volunteers at ADSS. In return for their time ADSS offers, training, on-going support, opportunities to
improve skills and increase knowledge. Our volunteers have a real sense of doing something worthwhile for the community. Travel expenses are paid; meals and refreshments are provided when
appropriate.
Befrienders
Befrienders offer one to one support by visiting a person with dementia and/or their carer in their own home once a week for an hour for a chat and a cup of tea/coffee.
Daycare Helpers
Volunteers join our staff team and help run activities at our daycare centre such as snooker, indoor bowls, cards, music and conversation. Lunch is provided and out of pocket expenses are paid.
Mini-bus Drivers
Mini-bus drivers collect clients from their homes and drive them to the day centre and then take them home again at the end of the day. An escort is always in attendance on the mini-bus. A KCC mini-bus driving course is mandatory to attend.
Support Group Helpers
Support Group helpers provide carers with the opportunity to talk, whether it is just a chat or the chance to discuss a particular difficulty they may be experiencing in caring for a person with dementia. Volunteers also help make the refreshments for the group, and organise social events.
